New York State Bar Association Presents Awards to Hofstra Law, Its Students and Coaches for Trial Competition Success
In a ceremony held on July 30, Frank Gulino and three Hofstra Law students were on hand to accept awards from the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) for success in the Region 2 rounds of the National Trial Competition (NTC) held earlier this year. The ceremony was held in Woodstock, Vermont, at a meeting of the NYSBA’s Trial Lawyers Section, which sponsors the regional competition.
Two teams of Hofstra Law students reached the finals in the regional NTC; one team was named co-Regional Winner. The members of the winning team – Laura Kitchen ’12, George Michel 3L and Kaitlyn Flynn 2L – were in attendance on July 30 and received awards for their team victory. Laura also received an individual award as Second Place Best Overall Advocate in the competition. For the regional victory, NYSBA presented a check for $5000 to Hofstra Law, which Frank accepted on behalf of the law school. Frank, who served as Regional Coordinator for the Hofstra-hosted tournament in February, also accepted awards on behalf of the Hofstra Law teams’ coaches – Jared Rosenblatt ‘03, Gerard McCloskey ’08, and Lee Bergstein – who won the Travis H.D. Lewin Award for Best Coaching in the region.
