Prof. Linda Galler to Speak on Disclosing Foreign Income
Professor Linda Galler will be a panel participant at a town hall-style meeting entitled “Implications and Consequences of Foreign Bank Account Reporting” on Wednesday, September 16, 2009.
Professor Galler’s remarks will focus on criminal prosecutions of U.S. persons accused of hiding assets abroad as a means of avoiding U.S. income tax, ongoing attempts by the U.S. Department of Justice to obtain names and account information of such persons, the legal requirement to file annual Foreign Bank Account Reports (FBARs), and the I.R.S. voluntary disclosure program for persons who wish to come forward in order to avoid prosecution.
The meeting will be held at the Jumeirah Essex House in Manhattan, and is sponsored by the accounting firm Holtz Rubenstein Reminick LLP. (For additional information, or to register to attend the panel, go to www.hrrllp.com.)
