Prof. Linda Galler to Be a Featured Speaker at ABA Joint Fall CLE Meeting

Professor Linda Galler will be a featured speaker on Friday, September 24 at the ABA Section of Taxation and Section of Real Property, Trust & Estate Law 2010 Joint Fall Meeting in Toronto, Ontario. Professor Galler will participate in a discussion of “Ethics and the Codification of Economic Substance” sponsored by the Tax Section’s Committee on Standards of Tax Practice. (Professor Galler previously served as Chair of that Committee.)

The presentation will consider the extent to which codification of the economic substance doctrine may have changed the ethical landscape for tax practitioners, whether new due diligence or other Circular 230-related obligations may be triggered, and how tax planning and tax controversy lawyers might change their approaches to transactions presenting possible economic substance issues.
