Prof. Barbara Barron to Conduct Trial Advocacy Program in Kazakhstan

Barbara S. Barron, Professor of Skills, Director of the Trial Techniques Program, Director of Student Advocacy Programs and Faculty Advisor to Moot Court Board

On Sunday, December 5, Professor Barbara Barron will travel to Almaty, Kazakhstan, where she will conduct a three-day trial advocacy program for American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative (ROLI) lawyers from Central Asia. The primary participants in the training will be defense attorneys specializing in human rights. In addition, faculty, students and observers from Almaty Law School at Kiemp University will attend the training.

During her trip, Professor Barron also will be training ABA ROLI lawyers to teach trial advocacy — a program for which she developed the teaching curriculum and program materials. She will conduct the training in both English and Russian. Professor Barron holds a master’s degree in Russian and worked as a translator before attending law school.
