Prof. Barbara Barron Conducts Trial Advocacy Program in Kazakhstan

Barbara S. Barron, Professor of Skills, Director of the Trial Techniques Program, Director of Student Advocacy Programs and Faculty Advisor to Moot Court Board

Professor Barbara Barron recently returned from Almaty, Kazakhstan, where she conducted a trial advocacy program for the American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative’s (ROLI) Central Asian human rights lawyers.  The four-day program, which was conducted in both Russian and English, focused on teaching American trial advocacy skills to the lawyers.

Participating lawyers were from Uzbekistan, Kirghizstan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan.  It was the first time that these lawyers were exposed to the American trial advocacy techniques.  Law students and professors from KIMEP University, an English speaking university in Almaty, also participated in the program.
