On March 30, 2012, the University of Memphis Law Review will hold its annual Spring Symposium. Titled Cultural Competency and the Death Penalty, this symposium will highlight a new method of representation called “cultural competence,” which investigates the sociological relationship between the defendant and the crime, resulting in a sentencing phase that is free of stereotypes.

A symposium edition of the University of Memphis Law Review will be dedicated to cultural competency and the death penalty in conjunction with this event.
