Alum Gives Hofstra Law $20 Million

It would have been natural at the age of 50 for Maurice A. Deane to use some of his wealth to take a nice long vacation or think about retiring.

Instead, he decided to embark on a second career as a lawyer and enrolled at Hofstra University School of Law.

The way he tells it, he made the decision while driving home from his office. Peggy Lee’s “Is That All There Is?” came on the radio. He pulled over, thought about what he wanted to do and decided it was time to fulfill his life’s dream to become a lawyer.
