Assistant Dean Jeffrey Dodge Discusses 1st Visit to India as Part of the Federal Government’s Education Delegation

‘India is in the process of figuring out what is good for them’

Jeffrey A. Dodge, assistant dean for global initiative at the Hofstra University School of Law, has returned from India “with incredibly positive impression” of the country.

This was his first visit to India – he was part of the federal government’s education delegation – during which he visited Delhi, Chennai and Mumbai to hold dialogue with top Indian university officials.

India, he said, is aspiring to create more institutions of higher education, but it is also looking at mutually beneficial opportunities to work with other universities outside the country, including the United States.

“My various discussion and exchanges with the Indian educators basically centered on exchanging knowledge and faculty and students exchanges,” he explained. “Every conversation that we had was a two-way street. The whole tone of the conversations was to help India and to help the US at the same time.”
