Prof. Robin Charlow Appointed to North Shore School District Legislative Action Committee
Robin Charlow was appointed to the newly-formed Legislative Action Committee of the North Shore School District. The group’s charge is to investigate the legal bases for issues of concern to public school districts, and to devise plans for necessary law reform to address them.
Thus far the group has succeeded in securing introduction of a bill in the New York State Legislature to provide tax relief to homeowners in the District facing the economic effects of the decommissioning of a local power plant. It plans next to tackle the much larger and more entrenched issue of unfunded state education mandates, in conjunction with a coalition of similar committees from other New York area school districts.
