“Knight had every single incentive in the world to prevent this from happening; the New York Stock Exchange had every incentive in the world to prevent this. … This isn’t a problem of malice,” said Ronald Colombo, a professor at Hofstra University School of Law. “The regulators can bring pressure, issue a lot of press releases, just to let people know the cop on the beat is not asleep.”
