Prof. Ronald Colombo Agrees With SEC Commisioner Aguilar on Need for Further Investigation of New Money Market Regulations

Ronald J. Colombo, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Professor of Law

Professor Colombo was quoted in Ian Thoms’s article Money Market Reform Fails Despite SEC Head’s Best Efforts posted on law360.com on August 23, 2012.  In this article Colombo contends that Commissioner Aguilar was correct when he declined to support SEC Chairwoman Schapiro’s proposals for new regulations on Money Market Funds.  Colombo stated that “Aguilar just doesn’t think this has been fully vetted and I think the SEC ought to take a closer look … I think the chairman was right to identify this as a problem, but the proposals did come across as a bit heavy-handed.”
