Alumnus Navarro Gray ’06 Is Hackensack’s 1st African-American Public Defender

Navarro Gray ’06, a native of Hackensack, New Jersey, was named the city’s first African-American public defender. He comes from a family that values public service: His father is a former member of the board of commissioners of the city’s housing authority, and his late grandfather served on the Hackensack Police Department and was not only the city’s first African-American police officer, but one of the first members of the department. Before Gray fused his love of music and the law by representing musicians and record companies.
