Hofstra Law students C. Nneka Nzekwu 3L, Thaxsheni Sivarajah 3L, Andrew Weiss 2L and Felicia Winder 3L were finalists in the 2015 Peter James Johnson National Civil Rights Competition, the only national civil rights trial competition in the country.
Nineteen law schools competed, arguing a case that focused on a fictional Baloba quarantine story and involved claims of negligence and wrongful discharge in violation of public policy.
The team was coached by Gerard McCloskey ’08, Jana McNulty ’14 and Jared Rosenblatt ’03.
The competition, held on Oct. 22-25, is sponsored by the Frank. S. Polestino Trial Advocacy Institute at St. John’s University School of Law.
The Hofstra Law team was mentioned in a Fox & Friends segment about the competition.
