Prof. Alafair Burke Delivers Keynote Address to Texas District & County Attorneys Association

Professor Alafair Burke was the keynote speaker to more than 1,000 prosecutors on Sept. 21, 2016, at the “Annual Criminal & Civil Law Update” of the Texas District & County Attorneys Association in Galveston, Texas.

Her lecture, “Lessons from Cognitive Science: The Effect of Heuristics on Prosecutorial Discretion,” discussed the ways that cognitive heuristics can distort prosecutorial decision-making and potentially contribute to wrongful convictions.
