Prof. Michael Haber Leads Training on Community Land Trusts

Michael Haber, Associate Clinical Professor of Law and Attorney-in-Charge, Community and Economic Development Clinic

Professor Mike Haber led a training on Community Land Trusts given to a new Community Land Trusts subcommittee of the NYC Community Economic Development Network on June 7. The training was held at the Urban Justice Center in Manhattan.

The presentation detailed the work being done by Prof. Haber and Hofstra Law’s Community and Economic Development Clinic around the development of community land trusts on Long Island, and instructed lawyers on the corporate and real estate legal work that will be necessary for similar efforts now being undertaken in New York City.

The NYC Community Economic Development Network is a network of more than 40 lawyers practicing CED law in and around New York City. Prof. Haber founded the group with Gowri Krishna, now the supervising attorney of the Urban Justice Center’s Technical Assistance and Capacity Building Program, in 2011.
