Hofstra Law to Host Free Name & Gender Marker Change Clinic on Nov. 12

Hofstra Law will be hosting its first Name & Gender Marker Change Clinic for transgender and gender-nonconforming adults, youths and children on Sunday, Nov. 12, at the Law School. The plan is to offer the clinic semiannually.

The clinic, organized by the Hofstra Law LGBT Rights Fellowship program and the student organization OUTLaw, in collaboration with Transcend Legal, is designed to help people legally change their name to align with their identities.

Law students, supervised by Hofstra Law Clinical Professor Lauris Wren, Esq. and Transcend Legal’s Charlie Arrowood, Esq., will provide free information and assistance with the paperwork and process. (Please note: Youth and children under 16 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.)

Translators will be made available as needed. Food and refreshments will be provided.
