File Your 2017 Taxes for Free! Tax Law Society to Host Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Clinic

The Tax Law Society at Hofstra Law is hosting a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) clinic. VITA files tax returns for qualifying taxpayers who made $54,000 or less in 2017.

Last year, Tax Law Society students filed 78 returns for low-income individuals in the community as well as Hofstra Law students. They generated $110,245 in refunds for their clients.

This service is available on:

  • Sunday, FEBRUARY 25 | 10 a.m.-3 p.m. | Room 243

  • Sunday, MARCH 4 | 10 a.m.-3 p.m. | Room 243

  • Sunday, MARCH 11 | 10 a.m.-3 p.m. | Room 230

  • Sunday, MARCH 18 | 10 a.m.-3 p.m. | Room 243

  • Wednesday, MARCH 21 | 4-7 p.m. | Room 242

  • Wednesday, APRIL 4 | 4-7 p.m. | Room 205

  • Saturday, APRIL 7 | 10 a.m.-2 p.m. | Room 242

  • Saturday, APRIL 14 | 10 a.m.-3 p.m. | Room 243

  • Sunday, APRIL 15 | 10 a.m.-3 p.m. | Room 243

What should I bring?

• Last year’s tax return
• CDL or ID, Social Security cards or ITIN cards for all family members
• All tax forms: W-2, 1098, 1099
• Information on all deductions/credits — for example, your childcare provider’s name, address, and Social Security number or Tax ID number
• Bank account number for direct deposit
