Global law firm Reed Smith LLP recently announced that Hofstra Law alumnus Michael N. Peterson ’96 joined the firm as a partner in the global corporate group in Philadelphia. Formerly head of Morgan Lewis’ Philadelphia corporate business & transactions practice, Peterson has more than 20 years of experience representing public and private companies in a broad range of industries in complex transactional matters.
“Mike has a stellar reputation in the Philadelphia business and legal communities,” said Matthew Petersen, co-chair of Reed Smith’s global corporate practice, in the announcement. “His busy practice plays to our strengths in sophisticated M&A, private equity, and corporate finance. … Our global corporate practice is thriving and expanding. Mike will be a cornerstone of our continued growth — in the Philadelphia market and beyond.”
Peterson’s work in private equity spans his legal career, and includes long-standing relationships with many high-profile portfolio companies and funds.
“Reed Smith’s global platform and its ongoing commitment to expanding its corporate practice are among the many reasons I decided to join the firm,” Peterson said in the announcement. “I have long-standing professional relationships with a number of Reed Smith partners. Having spent my entire legal career at one firm, I am excited and energized by the opportunity to join this talented group.”
