Earlier this month, Certilman Balin Adler & Hyman, LLP announced that Hofstra Law alumnae Noreen Chen ’09 and Kathleen A. Farrell ’14 joined the firm as Associates in its East Meadow, New York, office.
Noreen Chen is a member of Certilman Balin’s Commercial Lending practice group. Before joining the firm, she was counsel at Newtek Small Business Finance, LLC in Lake Success, New York. She represented the Small Business Administration Preferred Lending Partner in SBA 7(a) business loan transactions.
From 2015-17, Chen was an associate attorney at Cullen & Dykman, where she represented lenders in commercial and residential lending for purchase, sale and refinance of real estate. From 2010-15, she was an associate attorney at another law firm in Nassau County.
Kathleen A. Farrell is a member of Certilman Balin’s Real Estate practice group. Before joining the firm, was was real estate counsel at Professional Physical Therapy, one of the nation’s largest outpatient physical therapy providers, with over 180 locations in five states.
For one year after law school, Farrell worked as a real estate associate at the Long Island office of a sole practitioner, where she represented individuals and corporations in real estate transactions, land use and zoning matters.
While at Hofstra law, she was a co-founder and treasurer of the Veteran’s Legal Assistance Project, which helps low-income veterans and their families receive free legal advice and representation from private members of the New York State Bar Association and law students.
