Prof. Michael Haber Conducts Training on Disaster Relief at NYC Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings

Michael Haber, Associate Clinical Professor of Law and Attorney-in-Charge, Community and Economic Development Clinic

Associate Clinical Professor Michael Haber, attorney-in-charge of the Community and Economic Development Clinic, presented a continuing legal education training for the New York City Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings on the topic “Improving the Administrative Process for Local Populations Seeking Disaster Relief” on June 28. Professor Haber described the impact of Superstorm Sandy on Long Island and the administrative and procedural challenges for low-income communities impacted by the storm.

Following his presentation, Professor Haber participated in a roundtable discussion on administrative issues in the disaster recovery process with his co-presenters, Daniel Greene (general counsel, New York State Governor’s Office of Storm Recovery), William Friedman (acting director, Storm Response Unit, New York Legal Assistance Group), Natasha Lycia Ora Bannan (associate counsel, LatinoJustice PRLDEF), and Professor Gregorio Mayers (Medgar Evers College).
