WABC News Covers Prof. James Sample’s Class Watching Ford-Kavanaugh Senate Hearings

On Sept. 27, as Dr. Christine Blasey Ford and Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh were testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee, ABC7NY reporter Kristin Thorne was at the Maurice A. Deane School of Law to observe Hofstra Law students in Professor James Sample’s class as they watched the hearings and, during breaks in the hearings, engaged in discussions about what they had heard and the related legal issues.

Professor Sample, an expert on judicial conduct and ethics, told Thorne that the hearings were “an incredible teaching moment.” He added, “It may be an unpleasant experience today in some respects; it’s certainly an uncomfortable topic. But this is history in the making, and sometimes democracy is unpleasant and this is that process in action.”
